Isaac Albéniz (1860-1909)

Allí fui a buscar una de mis guitarras, a la ciudad de Granada, una enredadera de calles empedradas, con la Alhambra de fondo, donde caminar por rincones intrincados, con tiendas de constructores de guitarras, uno de los lugares, junto con Málaga, donde mejor se curan las guitarras gracias al clima. Uno de los lugares donde están los mejores constructores de la guitarra clásica, evolución de la vihuela, instrumento genuinamente de invención española que se remonta al siglo XV y llegó al esplendor en el XVI dándose a conocer por toda Europa y el Nuevo Mundo. 

Cuando Alfonso el Magnánimo conquista Nápoles, la corte napolitana se convierte en una de las más refinadas de europa con la llegada de las vihuelas de constructores españoles que se incorporaron a la música de la corte. La majestuosidad de esta obra, que me transporta a esta tierra de guitarras, que huele a maderas finas, a pueblos blancos, a sol y pureza, llena mis sentidos.

I went to the city of Granada to seek one of my guitars; Granada, a vine of cobbled streets with the Alhambra at the top, a city for walking its intricate paths, a city with guitar builders. One of the places, next to Malaga, where guitars best cure because of the weather. A place with some of the best builders of classic guitars, which are an evolution of the vihuela, a genuinely Spanish instrument from the 15th century and which had its golden century in the 16th century when it became known in all of Europe and the New World.

When Alfonso V (the  Magnanimous) conquered Naples, the Neapolitan court became one of the most refined in Europe, with the arrival of Spanish-built vihuelas that were incorporated into the court’s music. The majestic nature of this piece, which transports me to that land of guitars, fine woods and white towns, fills up my senses.
